One Room Challenge Bathroom – Week 1

One Room Challenge Bathroom - Week 1 - www.ruthietabone.com

Alright friends it’s finally here!  The One Room Challenge!  I have been patiently waiting for this day to arrive for almost a year now!  I was planning to participate in the Spring 2016 challenge but I had recently found out I was pregnant and life was hectic and the pregnancy wasn’t the easiest.  I decided to step down from the challenge and postpone it until this Fall.  Well….now that I’m expecting and baby is almost here I decided to be crazy and do TWO reveals this Fall 2016 challenge!  So 8 months pregnant and two renovations…no big deal right?!

So I apologize if you aren’t into room reveals as this is going to consume my blog for the next 6 weeks. I will be taking a break from Friday Favorites.  In the next couple weeks I will also have a small mini master bedroom reveal for you all too!  Can you tell I’m nesting?

Well to start of the challenge we will begin with our bathroom.  We have 3 bathrooms in our home, two upstairs and one downstairs.  Our master bathroom is TINY so that’s my husband’s bathroom and I use the main bathroom upstairs.  It is kind of strange not sharing a bathroom but it’s also kind of great at the same time!  I have sooo much space!  What’s a girl not to love?  Well….the bathroom itself is not my favorite.  It has a ton of storage but almost too much!  I know that may sound strange coming from a woman but this bathroom is loaded with unnecessary storage.  I have managed to fill it up but am willing to compromise some storage to open the space up a little.  More details on that later….

Here is the before of our main bathroom:

It’s not terrible but it defintely needs a little TLC.  It is your basic 90s builder grade bathroom.  Here is my checklist (in no specific order) for the final reveal:

  • Paint bathroom cabinets & trim
  • Paint vanity counter tops
  • Rip out previous linoleum (2 layers..fun!)
  • Tile floor & wall
  • Remove medicine cabinet & cabinet above toilet
  • Replace mirror
  • Replace light fixture
  • Change outlets & switches
  • Repair holes in wall from cabinet removal & towel bars
  • Paint walls
  • Replace toilet paper holder and towel rod
  • Replace faucet

Now here is my inspiration board for the project and how I hope for the final reveal to resemble:

Well I better get going as I still have so much left to do and so little time!  I want to thank all of my sponsors for this reveal!
