A Damask Wedding

August is a pretty wonderful month in our family.  Not only is my daughter’s 2nd birthday tomorrow but last Thursday was my husband and I’s 4th wedding anniversary.  I planned my wedding without the world of Pinterest.  Pinterest was around when I was wedding planning but I don’t think I really knew about it.  I remember finding photos I liked online and making folders on my desktop and saving them.  I would have probably saved lots of time if I only knew about Pinterest! 🙂

We had a very beautiful wedding with a black, white and red theme.  I have always loved the pattern damask and if only I would have gotten married two years later I would have found it everywhere!  It was harder to come by in 2011.  I guess I’m kind of a trendsetter with the whole damask wedding thing! Ha! I’m going to give you a little photo overload now and I apologize for some of the “not so great” photos…our photographers ended up being kind of duds!  Still not very happy to this day but I’m trying to come to terms with it! 🙂  Here is a little wedding reminiscing for your Wednesday entertainment.A Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.comA Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.com A Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.com

I was obsessed with my dress and loved it so much!  The detail was gorgeous and the crystals on it gave it a beautiful sparkle!  I’ve always dreamed of having a rose bouquet and I couldn’t have asked for prettier flowers!

My husband and I both sing competitive acapella music so we are very fortunate to have a lot of talented friends.  We had all of our friends join together and sing a beautiful song called All Rise.  We had so much amazing music in our wedding that it was kind of more of a concert rather than a wedding – which is what we were going for 🙂

After the ceremony was over it was party time!

While we were enjoying some down time before the reception everyone was arriving to celebrate together!  Here are a few pictures of the decor from the evening.  I’m pretty sure all of these pics (except the first one) are cell phone pictures!  Grrr!

We had our toasts and then it was time for our first dance.  We started the dance off like any normal first dance and then added our own choreography!  It was pretty hilarious!  It was kind of like a walk down memory lane with dance and song!

We also had a photo booth set up where you could use props to take funny photos!  Here are a bunch of friends posing so beautifully!

Overall, (minus the terrible photographers) it was a beautiful and perfect day!  It was a lot of work but worth everything minute of planning.  I sometimes wish I could do it all over again.  It’s a lot of work for one evening so why can’t we recreate it?!  I’m going to leave you with this video, made by the amazing F8 Creative.  I have watched this video multiple times the past week just trying to take in the amazingness of the day!
