A Damask Wedding

August is a pretty wonderful month in our family. ย Not only is my daughter’s 2nd birthday tomorrowย but last Thursday was my husband and I’s 4th wedding anniversary. ย I planned my wedding without the world of Pinterest. ย Pinterest was around when I was wedding planning but I don’t think I really knew about it. ย I remember finding photos I liked online and making folders on my desktop and saving them. ย I would have probably saved lots of time if I only knew about Pinterest! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a very beautiful wedding with a black, white and red theme. ย I have always loved the pattern damask and if only I would have gotten married two years later I would have found it everywhere! ย It was harder to come by in 2011. ย I guess I’m kind of a trendsetter with the whole damask wedding thing! Ha! I’m going to give you a little photo overload now and I apologize for some of the “not so great” photos…our photographers ended up being kind of duds! ย Still not very happy to this day but I’m trying to come to terms with it! ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Here is a little wedding reminiscing for your Wednesday entertainment.A Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.comA Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.com A Damask Wedding - www.ruthietabone.com

I was obsessed with my dress and loved it so much! ย The detail was gorgeous and the crystals on it gave it a beautiful sparkle! ย I’ve always dreamed of having a rose bouquet and I couldn’t have asked for prettier flowers!

My husband and I both sing competitive acapella music so we are very fortunate to have a lot of talented friends. ย We had all of our friends join together and sing a beautiful song called All Rise.ย  We had so much amazing music in our wedding that it was kind of more of a concert rather than a wedding – which is what we were going for ๐Ÿ™‚

After the ceremony was over it was party time!

While we were enjoying some down time before the reception everyone was arriving toย celebrate together! ย Here are a few pictures of the decor from the evening. ย I’m pretty sure all of these pics (except the first one) are cell phone pictures! ย Grrr!

We had our toasts and then it was time for our first dance. ย We started the dance off like any normal first dance and then added our own choreography! ย It was pretty hilarious! ย It was kind of like a walk down memory lane with dance and song!

We also had a photo booth set up where you could use props to take funny photos! ย Here are a bunch of friends posing so beautifully!

Overall, (minus the terrible photographers) it was a beautiful and perfect day! ย It was a lot of work but worth everything minute of planning. ย I sometimes wish I could do it all over again. ย It’s a lot of work for one evening so why can’t we recreate it?! ย I’m going to leave you with this video, made by the amazing F8 Creative. ย I have watched this video multiple times the past week just trying to take in the amazingness of the day!

  1. Ahh! Fellow choir/a cappella nerds! We also had a “family & friends” choir sing at our wedding. It was one of my favourite details.
