Restored Restoration Hardware Chairs
Happy Monday everyone! I’ve decided to start the big project of redoing my dining room furniture. Right now it’s just a bunch of mismatched furniture that has been brought together from different places. I’m positive it will look great together once I’m finished working with them!
As you can see my end chairs are a different color wood and have a green fabric. I plan to paint the chairs as well as recover them. The table we scored on Craigslist for free! It’s scratched up quite a bit but once I sand, paint and stain it it’s going to look amazing. I also scored these gorgeous Restoration Hardware chairs from a family friend in my hometown for free! They were previously chairs in a yummy cafe called The Bear. If you are ever in Northwest Iowa check it out!
It’s obvious that these chairs have seen better days and need a little TLC. I have to say though that this was probably one of the most simple projects I’ve done to date. All I had to do was spray paint the areas that needed touching up with a little black flat spray paint. I did a test chair first and was lucky enough that the spray paint matched perfectly to the chair! I used Krylon ColorMaster in Flat Black. This was great because I didn’t have to spray paint the entire chair, just the areas that needed it.
I used the test chair in my music studio for a few weeks to see how it held up. I did notice that the paint did chip on the wicker area so I knew I needed a protective coating on the top of the black spray paint. I used Valspar Premium Finish with a flat finish for my top coat and it was super easy to apply. Be careful though and don’t get too spray happy because I did and it left a film on the chairs.
I figured since it already had a thorough coat of finish spray I decided to cover up the film with the black spray paint. If this layer of black spray paint rubs off then the rest of the black spray paint should be protected by the finish spray.
I love how the restored Restoration Hardware chairs look brand new again! It’s really motivating me to finish the rest of my table and two end chairs. I also have a bar cart I want to redo for this space! Hopefully I can continue to keep my momentum and get this finished in the next few weeks! Have an amazing week and can’t wait to show you my next project on Wednesday!

How fun that the chairs have a history and pretty exciting past before coming to you! They touched up beautifully. I can’t wait to see what you do with the other chairs and the table!
