One Room Challenge Lucy’s Room – Week 2

One Room Challenge Lucy's Room Week 2 - www.ruthietabone.com

Okay here we are for week 2 of the One Room Challenge!  This session of the challenge has really snuck up on me.  I felt that I was so prepared and ready and then all of a sudden it was here and I have so much work to do!  I feel this room isn’t as much work as Gabi’s Nursery but I think I’ve also underestimated the amount of work that does need to be done.  With Gabi’s room I had to paint the entire room including the inside of her closet.  With Lucy’s I’ve only had to touch up the pink paint and paint the woodwork…but I guess that’s still a large task! 🙂

If you missed last week you can catch up here:

Week 1

The biggest job has been completed, painting the woodwork and closet, so that does feel really good. Here is a little sneak peak of the redone closet:

We use to have curtains up in her room but as she got older and could get into things it just turned into a mess!  We decided to put the ugly brown hollow core doors back on just to keep her out!  Haha!  I despised how it darkened the room and I absolutely hated the brown.  It is now all pretty and white and I can’t wait to share with you the final product!  I can’t believe how a little paint and decoration can really change the ugly hollow core doors.

Another item I got to check off my list was hang some adorable decals that my friend Sydney from Tastefully Frugal made for me!  She also has an adorable shop for affordable clothes and accessories called Mahle’s Market.  She made it with her Cricut machine!  I’m super excited to have just joined Cricut’s blogger team so hopefully I can learn soon how to make these cool decals too!  I then added a mirror from a set from LampsPlus.   I wasn’t sure what size of mirror was going to fit best so this was perfect because I had three to choose from.  I ended up using the second largest mirror for this space. (By the way, I can’t WAIT to get those ugly brown doors painted too!  I am going to add overlays to the hollow core doors and paint them white to match the woodwork!)One Room Challenge Lucy's Room Week 2 - www.ruthietabone.com

One more thing I was able to start working on is the picture collage wall.  I got a couple beautiful mirrored frames from Framebridge and then purchased the rest from IKEA.  I then used a bunch of beautiful prints from various Etsy shops!  Here is a sneak peak….I can’t wait to share it all with you!One Room Challenge Lucy's Room Week 2 - www.ruthietabone.com

  1. you made a lot of progress already! I love the sneak peak of the gallery wall. IKEA has the best frames for a cohesive gallery wall!

    1. Agreed I like IKEA’s frames when doing a collage wall! They all look so great together! I love the touches of the mirrored frames too!
