Do you have a board game from when you were a child that you wanted to play daily and still love to play today!? ย For me, that is The Game of Lifeย game. ย I used to play with the game board even when I wasn’t playing the game with my friends or family.ย It was like a little play mat for my cars and families.ย I’d drive the little cars around the town and have my figures have babies and play well…life! ๐ ย I wanted to make the whole board game experience a little more enjoyable for my family so I decided to create our own lazy susan game board.
I made thisย DIY lazy susan game boardย all for $10! ย It’s a great way to easily turn the board around so everyone can sit comfortably! ย I started with 2 long 1×4 boards and I had them cut it at my local home improvement store to 16 inches long each. ย (Note: 1×4’s are actually about 1×3.75 so the width of your board will be 14 inches, not 16 inches.) ย I wanted the top of the lazy susan to be 4 boards wide. ย I then had them cut 2 – 12 inch boards for the base of the lazy susan. ย You want your base to be smaller in length and width than the top of your lazy susan. ย You will want to sand down the boards so they are smooth and then stain or paint them to your desired color.
Materials needed:
- 4 – 16-inch 1×4 pieces of wood
- 2 – 12-inch 1×4 pieces of wood
- lazy susan bearing
- screws (1/2 inch & 3/4 inch)
- 2 – 11 inch metal brackets
- Stain or paint

First, you will want to attach the four 16 inch boards together. ย The lazy susan bearing is thin so I needed to find something even thinner to attach the boards. ย The other day I was walking through my home improvement store and came across these USP connectors that are used for fencing. ย It was the perfect solution for this project! ย I started by centering them at the ends of each side of the boards and screwing them in on the outside moving in.

Next, you will want to center the lazy susan bearing onto the back of the top of the board. ย Mark the holes with a pencil so that you can easily find where to screw to attach the bearing.

The next step is to screw the bearing onto the bottom boards. ย The great thing about this is the bearing holds the boards together so you don’t need anything to secure them.
The last step is to secure the bearing onto the top of the of the lazy susan. ย Line up your bearing holes while turning the bottom part at an angle so the holes are visible. ย Screw in the holes to secure the bearing.

Voila, you have a beautiful board game lazy susan!

What better addition to family game night than one of America’s favorite treats….M&M’sยฎ?! ย My family is a huge fan and it’s great to have around the table to enjoy while I share one of my favorite childhood games with my own child. ย My family’s personal favorites areย M&M’sยฎ Peanut Butter andย M&M’sยฎ Milk Chocolate.

I love how simple this project was and my family LOVES playing board games with the turntable board! It makes it so much easier and helps it from making pieces get bumped off while playing! ย Playing board games is so much fun and now having the lazy susan makes it that much more enjoyable!

This is such a great idea! I can’t wait till my daughter gets older and wants to play board games. I definitely need to make this!
I know my daughter is slowly learning and it’s so much fun! ๐
What a great idea! We always do family game nights with my husband’s family. Our table is pretty large so someone always has to reach over. Unfortunately, spilled drinks and accidents happen.
Well hopefully this could help with that problem! ๐ Game nights are the best!
This lazy susan would solve our primary issue on game night – the boys moving the board around and knocking off the pieces! Family games nights are such fun, and a great way to connect after a long week! #client
Thanks Stephanie! The lazy susan is such a quick build and does make game night so much more enjoyable!
I didn’t know I could make a lazy susan. You’re the best! This looks like such a good time.
Yeah it’s not that hard to do either! If I would have figured it out soon I probably would have made one for my kitchen table rather than buy one! ๐
This is such a good idea and is so cute! What a fun game night!
Thanks Emily! ๐ It does make game night more enjoyable!
If you find the boards sliding around on the lazy susan, add a piece of the rubbery shelf liner on top of the wood.
That’s a great idea Joyce!
This is a great idea. Our family loves board games: Monopoly, Settlers of Cataan, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride, Airport. And I even saw one of these turntable thingies in our storage room. Christmas, we’re going to be ready!! Thank you!
That’s great! I’d love to see your final product! ๐
