I Finally Got a Barn Door!
I have absolutely loved the barnyard door trend that has been going on for quite some time. I have always wanted to build one, transform one, or buy one and use it somewhere in my home. I love the look that it gives a room and you can really change a rooms simply by a door. I also love how the barn doors are modernizing. They aren’t only slats of worn wood with angled boards on top. My new one is proof of the modernized look in barn doors these days!
One of my favorite things about a new project is seeing my daughter’s reaction when it is done. She is the most expressive little girl I know and truly loves beautiful things. She is my biggest fan and I love her for that! Needless to say, our new barn door did not disappoint. (As you can tell from her pose!)
We have a very small walk-in closet and the door got in the way of its functionality. When we moved into our house it just had one hanging rod and a shelf above it. There wasn’t much room for both my husband and me to hang our clothes at all. It seemed as though there was a lot of wasted space. One night on a whim my husband and I decided to add another shelf and rod so that we each had space. It now has two levels which works really great for us. Unfortunately, it is not pretty though. We used leftover materials from other closets in our house that we have redone. It was super affordable, as in FREE, but not pretty. Ha! I’m hoping to give it some paint and a little TLC soon so that we walk into a beautiful closet.
Even though we have a not so pretty closet on the inside we do have a very pretty barn door to cover it up. We went with the Continental Frosted Glass 1 Panel Ironage Laminate Interior Barn Door from Wayfair. Isn’t it absolutely dreamy?! I love the frosted glass, because who are we kidding, no one wants to see the inside of our closet! Ha! I love the mix of the traditional barn door with the modern touch of the frosted glass. It’s a very solid and well-made door and was fairly easy to hang. With all new projects comes a few bumps in the road but we figured it out! Head on over to Wayfair’s website for a large selection of barn doors and accessories.
I also redid our bathroom door with an O’verlay and I’ll have more on that project next week! The room is really coming together. We have slowly worked on this room. It has gone through a couple transformations the past couple years but I am really loving where it is heading. About two years ago I started our room transformation with a mini makeover. We still have big plans for this room. We want to eventually do built-ins across one wall to help maximize our storage and closet space. We would then love to completely gut our bathroom and start from scratch. Right now it’s way too small for the both of us so I’d love to have more space! It’s been a great transformation so far!
Thanks for stopping by today and stay tuned for more changes within this room. I love a full room reveal but sometimes with two littles and other financial commitments that just can’t happen all the time! I’m loving our space more and more each day and I can’t wait to continue to work on it! Happy Wednesday my friends!
