Kitchen Organizer

Even though I may not be the cleanest person in the world, I love to be organized!  Yes, I’m one of those crazy people who love to organize!  It makes me super happy!  I also get a huge thrill when I get to check something off a to do list.  Who’s with me?!

Anyways, I needed a little organization in my life especially because we are in a new home and are always getting new things in the mail.  I needed a place where I could file things away before filing them in the filing cabinet.  I didn’t want it to be out in the open because then it just tends to build up and get cluttered.  I was looking on Pinterest and came across a few ideas that I really liked for a kitchen organizer.

I really loved the look of the wooden file holders but to be honest they were just out of my price range/budget for this project.  I also didn’t have a great wall for them to fit and as I said before I wanted to make it more hidden.  I decided to go with the DIY version from Organizing Homelife.

I already had some scrapbook paper at my house from a project I never got around to so I used those papers for this project.  I went to Staples because I had a $5 credit and thought I would get them laminated since I do not own my own laminator.  It turns out it was going to cost a lot and the sales lady suggested using contact paper.  I decided to go that route since it was only $4 for a roll of contact paper.

Once I got home I started making my organization folders.  I folded the paper in half and folded the edges so it would create a folder and then covered it with contact paper.  On the back side of the folder I used packaging tape to ensure that the contact paper was on securely.  After the folders were finished I put chalkboard labels on the front of the folders.  I used a Chalkboard Marker that I purchased on Amazon to write on the labels so that they looked clean.  I decided to make six of them with these titles:

1. Bills to Pay

2. Bills to File

3. Receipts

4. Coupons

5. Take Out Menus

6. Lucy (so I can put forms from the Dr. and other things inside)

I attached them to the inside of my cabinet doors with my new favorite product, 3M Velcro Hanging Strips.  I use these things for everything!

So far it has really helped me keep track of paying bills and keeping things in one general place.  I’m really enjoying not having so much clutter out in the open in my kitchen but I still even like the unseen things to be organized.  Next project….organize the pantry! 🙂
