Walnut Hollow Stenciled Clock

I’m so excited to be here today with these talented ladies and share some of the projects that we made with Walnut Hollow materials!  We had the choice between a few different items and I went with the large round clock.  What I love about the Create and Share challenge is seeing how everyone takes a specific item and makes them their own.

I had so many ideas for this clock but I decided to go with stenciling…yes I’m sure you aren’t surprised! 😉  I feel like you can’t go wrong with stenciling!  I loved the look of the natural wood so I decided to keep that as is.  I used a stencil I got on clearance at Target and some adorable wood stickers from Target.  So here is what you need:
  1. Clock
  2. Clock Parts
  3. Stencil
  4. Interior Paint
  5. Wood Stickers
  6. Foam Brush

The trick to stenciling is to fill the foam brush with paint…dab some off…then dab some more off!
  1. Fill foam brush with paint.
  2. Dab the paint onto the other side of the plate to remove some excess paint.
  3. Dab it a few more times onto a paper towel before stenciling.  The less paint the better.  If you have too much paint then it will bleed more easily.

If your stencil doesn’t fit your project then you will want to line the stencil up and paint the other area.

The last step for creating your clock is to place the wood stickers in place of the numbers.  This was super easy and took only a few minutes.  If you had non-sticker pieces of wood then you could glue them on with a hot glue gun.  These were stickers so I just stuck them on in place (I eyeballed it)!  I alternated between the circles and hexagons.Walnut Hollow Stenciled Clock - www.ruthietabone.com

Last but not least assemble your clock and hang on the wall for your enjoyment!  I haven’t decided where I want this gem to go but I’m loving how it turned out.  I have a few places in mind but I need to see where it fits perfectly!Walnut Hollow Stenciled Clock - www.ruthietabone.com Walnut Hollow Stenciled Clock - www.ruthietabone.com
