October Monthly Wrap-Up
The October monthly wrap-up. Keep up with all the things in my life and what’s hot on the blog!
Happy Halloween! I hope you are all out with your little ones and scoring some delicious candy!
I can’t believe we are nearing the end of 2019. It has been a fun and busy year here at the Tabone Household.
I use to do a monthly check-in post a year or so ago and now I want to bring it back! I love to know more about bloggers and their lives.
There are lots of little things we hide from our readers. In my case, it’s how messy the next room looks from the one I’m photographing! Ha!
I thought I’d open up my life to you all a little bit more so you can learn more about me and my love for home decor, DIY and my family!
Family
Since I haven’t done a monthly wrap-up during 2019 I’m going to give you a brief overview. My older daughter, Lucy started 1st grade this year. She absolutely loves school and is growing way too fast!
My youngest daughter, Gabi started doing a couple of mornings a week of preschool. She transitioned so much better than Lucy in regards to school, so that was a nice treat!
My husband and I both sing competitive acapella music. We are both members of a barbershop quartet. My quartet is called Marigold Quartet. We are fairly new and looking forward to our first competition.
We are based out of Denver, Colorado so around once a month I do a day trip to CO. I hop on a plane around 5:30 in the morning and then head back to MN around 9 pm at night. It makes for a very long day but it’s so much fun to sing with these ladies!
My husband’s quartet is called First Ave. This past weekend they went to their District competition and won! I’m so proud of these guys because they have come a long way since they started.
Health & Nutrition
Since January, I have been working out 5-6 times a week at Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping. It has become like a second home to me.
I have met so many amazing people and have never had the motivation to stay active like this before. It’s a combination of kickboxing and strength training workouts.
I also have never been a morning person and I get my butt out of bed to go to the 6 am or 7 am class. I even trained to become an instructor and I teach about 2-3 classes a week!
So for about 10 months, my workout schedule has been on point. My nutrition….not so much! I have always struggled with this aspect of weight loss.
I think I have finally found something that is going to work for me, and it’s called Macrostax. This app calculates the correct amount of Macros your body needs based on various factors. It then helps you decide what, when, and how much to eat.
It gives you meal and food ideas to complete your macros each day. I was stunned when I saw the number of carbs, protein, and fat I was supposed to be eating a day. The carbs were at least double of what I was trying to eat.
Above are the numbers I have to hit each day to get 3 thumbs up! There are many reasons for their higher numbers but one of them is that when you are on a “diet” your body goes into starvation mode. Starvation mode can slow down your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight.
With Macrostax I’m getting the perfect amount of carbs, protein, and fat that my body needs on a daily basis and still able to lose weight. I’m still able to eat the things I love all while losing weight.
I’m excited to share my journey with you all and to finally get down to my goal weight!
Habit Tracking
Recently, I have become a bit addicted to a new app that I came across about a month ago. I have been wanting more accountability for various things in my life. I hate to lose money so when I came across Spar, I became instantly hooked.
I’ve participated in different types of challenges from working out, organizing around your home, to making sure you wash your face before bed!
You can join in on challenges and you can even create your own and invite people. I tend to be forgetful at times to remember to do things but this doesn’t let me forget!
The best part of it all is if you don’t miss any of your check-ins then you and the other winners split the pot! I’ve only been doing it for about a month and I’ve won over $50!
Not a bad way to make a little extra spending money!
Post Round-Up
October was a busy month so I didn’t get as many posts out as I had hoped. Every month I write a post for HomeRight. I absolutely love their Super Finish Max Extra Paint Sprayer and use it almost monthly.
I recently helped my Mom spray her hutch that has been in our home my entire life. They are building a new home so she wanted to freshen it up a bit.
I shared the tutorial on HomeRight’s website from start to finish. I thought it would be fun to do a round-up of all the pieces of furniture I’ve painted with chalk paint.
A Look Into November
I’m looking forward to next month’s projects. I have a really fun project I’m doing with a heat gun and we are thinking about ripping out the carpet on our stairs!
We will see how much we are able to get done with Thanksgiving just around the corner!
