Preparing and Decorating for the Holidays

With a new baby on the way and going from one child to two, I find it very important to be prepared for the upcoming Holidays. I love to decorate for all Holidays but I especially love to decorate for Christmas. I probably have about 3 times the number of bins for Christmas decorations as opposed to all other Holidays. Christmas brings so much joy to me and I can’t wait to celebrate it this year with our new family of four.
With having a newborn that is to arrive this week we are having everyone come to our house for the Holidays. First everyone will be here at Thanksgiving and then again in January for a belated Christmas celebration. I don’t think it’s ever too early to decorate for Christmas so I was really excited to get a head start before baby arrives.
Recently I also participated in the One Room Challenge where you transform a room in 6 weeks. I decided to take on two rooms because I’m nesting quite badly. I transformed our bathroom and nursery. Another great reason to get decorating early — it feels like I have a brand new bathroom!
With all of the guests that will arrive in the coming months, I also want to ensure that I have a clean home. This bathroom is the main bathroom in the upper level of our house so it is used quite frequently. Something that I have found to make my life a little bit easier when cleaning the bathroom (a not so fun job) is using the Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber and Refills. It scrubs the messes you’ve been leaving behind as it reaches the mess under the rim that other brands don’t always get with its genuine Scotch-Brite® brand scrubbing power. I love these little guys because they are shaped to access the stains and gunk that are hidden under the rim. I have always struggled with getting those hard to reach places on the toilet and these work great! The flexing head design allows maximum contact with the toilet bowl. You can find the new Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber and Refills in the bathroom cleaning aisle at your local Target. Don’t forget to use the Instant Redeemable Coupon on each product: “Try Me Now! Save $2!”
Now that my bathroom is ready for our guests I had my husband get out a bin or two of Christmas decor and I got to decorating. I’m one for less is more, especially in a smaller space. You don’t need to add tons of decor to make for some beautiful scenery. I grabbed out a few ornaments as well as some decorative trees and glitter pine cones. It took me a whole 15 minutes to arrange the items in a festive way.
Something you do want to pay attention to when decorating is trying to get varying levels of height. If you make everything the same it doesn’t always create an aesthetically pleasing outcome. Always try different combinations until you find ones that you like best!
Now I’m officially ready for the Holidays and this baby can make its appearance any day now! Don’t forget to go out and get your Scotch-Brite® Disposable Toilet Scrubber and Refills as they are also 15% off on Cartwheel. We will be very thankful this Thanksgiving and Christmas for our new little gift.

Ruthie, I am so excited for you. 🙂 If you like, you could have your new arrival on MY birthday 12/13 and I would be thrilled! (Note: The principal of the school of the small town where I was born, said that to my mother and low and behold I was born on his birthday. lol)
I’m not much of a decorator for any season yet I adore enjoying the beautiful decorations you have put out in your home. Thanks for the eye candy!!

Thanks Christina! Well I’m in the hospital in labor at the moment so I don’t think we will make it to 12/13! Plus I would be super over due! 🙂 Happy early birthday!
