I never realized until we purchased our home how much new light fixtures can make a difference! I’ve never really paid attention to lighting in homes since we’ve been renting for such a long time. Our house had decent lights but they weren’t my style or taste. All of the globes on the fixtures had a yellow/gold tint so it made the room darker than it already was. Painting the walls and getting brighter fixtures have made a worlds difference. Below are the previous lights in our house.

I searched high and low for all the fixtures that I wanted to get and I’m still not done. Lots of the lights in our home are the common globe ceiling lights. They are okay but not my favorite. For now I’m focusing on the main lights in our home and I can eventually replace the others in time. I replaced the “Tiffany” styled light in the kitchen with this contemporary and simple light that I purchased at Lowes. I love the simplicity of this light and I love how it adds a more modern flair to our kitchen.
I originally purchased this light for our dining room but decided it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. It was just too plain and I really wanted something different and unique! One day I was looking around at World Market and fell absolutely in love with this chandelier. It was exactly what I was looking for! It has mirrors on it….maybe that’s why I loved it?! ;). (Remember my previous post about my obsession with mirrors?) It is the perfect compliment to our dining room and I’m so happy with my decision.

I hadn’t planned on replacing the foyer light for a while as I didn’t think it was that bad. I wasn’t a huge fan of the yellow globes so I even tried to replace them but it just didn’t look right. The globes didn’t sit right and you could see the light sockets on the fixture.
I was watching reality TV one day, okay most days, and I fell in love with this chandelier on a show. It was a beautiful huge chandelier that was inside of a globe metal casing. I searched high and low for a globe light with a chandelier inside. Most of the ones I found either looked cheap or they were WAY out of my price range. After hours or searching I came across this light on Amazon. I fell madly in love and had to buy it instantly as it was only $180. It seemed a little suspicious to me because it was Prime shipping but said it wouldn’t ship for 1-3 months. I was pretty convinced I was getting it from China. Especially when I saw later that the price changed…
I was scared the order would get cancelled and I wouldn’t get the light. This just had to be a mistake! Well low and behold it came and it was stunning! I am madly in love with it and it’s such a beautiful statement piece when you walk into our home!
There are still a lot of lights that I want to replace in our home but for now this is a great start! I love how these three lights have really transformed and brightened our upper level! Lots of the upstairs projects are done for now and hopefully this month we will be starting to paint the basement! I’m tired of looking at paint swatches on the wall! 🙂
Anyone else in love with lights as much as I am!?
